China Jul anthracite imports tumble 36% YoY

    sxcoal.com Import & Export,  Anthracite 2019-08-23 18:25:53

China's anthracite imports slumped 36% from a year ago in July, partly due to sufficient domestic supply amid flat demand, showed data from the General Administration of Customs on August 23.

The sharp decline may be also ascribed to China's import restriction to keep the full-year coal imports flat with a year ago, in line with earlier projection by sxcoal.com.

Total anthracite coal imports came in at 720,000 tonnes in July, customer data showed. Yet the volume still climbed marginally by 1.41% from a month ago, data showed.

Value of the imports declined 43.8% year on year to $80.84 million in July. The average import price was calculated at $112.28/t, up $1.47/t month on month but down $14.94/t year on year.

In January-July, anthracite imports totaled 5.56 million tonnes, up 1.2% YoY, value of which declined 9.3% to $624 million.

China exported 150,000 tonnes of anthracite in July, down 6.1% year on year, adding up to a total of 1.29 million tonnes in the first seven months, up 17.8% YoY.
